About Attorney General's Office:

.As the "People's Lawyer," the Attorney General serves as the guardian of the legal rights of the citizens of New York, its organizations and its natural resources. In his role as the State's chief legal counsel, the Attorney General not only advises the Executive branch of State government, but also defends actions and proceedings on behalf of the State.

The Attorney General serves all New Yorkers in numerous matters affecting their daily lives. The Attorney General's Office is charged with the statutory and common law powers to protect consumers and investors, charitable donors, the public health and environment, civil rights, and the rights of wage-earners and businesses across the State.

The Attorney General's authority also includes the activities and investigations of the State Organized Crime Task Force and Medicaid Fraud Control Unit.

There are over 650 Assistant Attorneys General and over 2,000 employees, including forensic accountants, legal assistants, scientists, investigators and support staff serve in the Office of the Attorney General in many locations across New York State.

Eric R. Dinallo:

Eric R. Dinallop;nbsp;</span>teaches ethics at New York University's Stern School of Business as the Henry Kaufman Visiting Professor of Finance. He is a former Superintendent of Insurance for New York State; he was nominated by Governor Eliot Spitzer and confirmed by the New York State Senate on April 18, 2007 as the 39th Superintendent of the New York State Insurance Department. On May 28, 2009 he announced his resignation and subsequently left state government service to become a visiting professor at New York University's Stern School of Business. Dinallo earned a Master's degree  from Duke University's School of Public Policy in 1987. He then attended New York University Law School. He obtained his J.D. in 1990. As an Assistant Attorney General, Eric led the Investor Protection Bureau and prosecuted fraud and abuse on Wall Street. He resurrected the decades-old Martin Act to investigate conflicts of interest that took advantage of average investors. He lives in New York City with his wife Priscilla Almodovar and their two young children.

Eric Schneiderman:

Eric Schneiderman grew up in New York City and attended Harvard Law School, and then clerked for two years in the U.S District Court for the Southern District of New York. Later on he entered private practice and became a partner at the firm of Kirkpatrick and Lockhart. For over 10 years he was counsel to the West Side Crime Prevention Program, using innovative legal tools to evict drug dealers and clean up the crack dens. As a founder and member of the Attorney General's Anti-Crime Advocates program and a member of the Lawyer's Committee on Violence, Eric recruited and trained private attorneys to represent community groups that were striving to protect their neighborhood from crime.  In 1993, he became President of the Board of the Public Policy and Education Fund. In 1998, Eric acted as lead attorney for the NYPIRG Straphangers campaign.

In January 2009, Eric became Chair of the Senate Codes Committee, which considers legislation related to the state's criminal and civil justice systems, as well as deputy Majority Leader for Policy. Eric lives on Manhattan's Upper West Side with his seventeen year old daughter.

Richard Brodsky:

Richard Brodsky has spent most of his entire life fighting for the people of New York. Having first been elected to public office in 1975 as a County Legislator from Westchester, he spent four terms leading the way on health care, transportation and tax fairness issues. In 1982, Richard was elected to the Assembly and continued in his efforts to protect the people of New York. In 2002, Richard was appointed Chairman of the Committee on Corporations, Authorities, and Commissions. It is as Chairman of this Committee that Richard brought the full weight of his talents and vision to bar on reform of state government. In 2009, this culminated with the passage of the Public Authorities Reform Act. Not only has Richard created laws to protect the people of New York, he has also served as a chief investigator, rooting out corruption at all levels of government. Richard currently resides in White Plains, New York with his wife and two daughters.

Sean Coffey:

Sean Coffey was born in the Bronx in 1956 to Irish immigrant parents. Sean followed in his father's footsteps and worked as a carpenters apprentice, including working on the construction of the World Trade Center. In 1978, Sean graduated with a merit from the United States Navel Academy in Annapolis. Once completed with his active service, Sean decided to continue to serve for an additional 18 years in the Navy Reserve. Sean decided to retire in 2004 as Navy Captain. Sean is a member of the Board of Visitors of the Georgetown University Law Center and Vice President of the United States Naval Academy Class of 1978. He is a devoted fan of the Yankees and Navy Football. Sean has been married for more than twenty years to Anne Churchill.

The Coffeys and their children Kate, Cameron and Conor live in Westchester County.
