Tricked

If President Bush’s alleged support for immigration reform was just a trick played on Mexican President Vicente Fox, among others, then it was certainly evident this year when Republican leaders in the House of Representatives put a stop to passing an immigration bill.

Instead, Republicans announced that in August they will debate the proposal approved by the Senate.

According to Democratic Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, Republicans in the House only want to derail the law and manipulate the issue of immigration for their own political advantage.

The decisive intervention of Bush would have avoided this roadblock, but he decided to stay out of it. Let’s see if Fox congratulates them again this time for their efforts in favor of reform.
