A great demonstration

A march in defense of immigrant rights will take place in Queens on October 4. It is expected that hundreds of thousands of people from different parts of the country will come to New York for the march.

It will be a clear message to the authorities about their immigration policies.

Gerry Dominguez, from Casa Mexico, said yesterday that thousands from cities like Boston, Chicago and Miami will gather in Flushing Park in Queens on October 4. Dominguez added that caravans of buses from nine main cities will meet in Washington October 1 and October 2, before going to New York.

In Washington, the Freedom Ride will protest before Congress. “We are struggling for the legalization of 8 million undocumented people and for this administration to respect civil rights. We are decent, productive families, and a political force. We should not be mistreated,” said Dominguez.

“We live here, we get married here, we divorce here. The message that we want to send to the Republicans is that we refuse to be stigmatized,” said Dominguez. Among the organizations leading the march is the AFL-CIO and the Hotel and Restaurant Workers Union, in addition to religious communities and political representatives.
