Black bankers take up King's fight

In an effort to embrace Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s call to strengthen and support black institutions, a group of bankers will use the dedication of the MLK memorial in Washington, D.C., this August as occasion to encourage people to open accounts in black neighborhood banks.

Homeland Security has scrapped a program that demanded special registration for immigrants from Arab and Muslim countries in the years following 9/11 that saw 13,000 of the 80,000 men who registered put into deportation proceedings, mostly for immigration violations.
